Klara Kristalova (b. 1967 in Czechia) lives in the countryside north of the Stockholm region. There she finds inspiration in what surrounds her: trees, flowers, moss, wilderness, nature. But there are also many different figures inhabiting her imaginary landscape. Men with horses’ heads come out of her studio, strange creatures with long hair and butterflies covering their eyes are being accompanied by girls with tree trunks growing out of their legs. Nothing is impossible to Klara Lidén and the very familiar is often paired with something utterly odd. Her glazed ceramic works combine the mysterious, the dreamlike and the familiar. She herself has said her works are like three-dimensional drawings and as a viewer you immediately surrender to these lovable and strangely peculiar figures. Klara Kristalova has gained international acclaim, having exhibited all over the world. Recent shows include Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin, Hong Kong/Paris, Lehmann Maupin, New York, San Fransisco Museum of Modern Art, Norton Museum of Art, West Palm Beach, and her works are in distinguished international private collections.
