The childhood of Jonas Wood (b. 1977 in USA) was filled with art, and he has spoken of the great importance his grandfather’s art collection had on him growing up. After studies in psychology he turned to art school full time and took his experimental collages from college a step further, elaborating and distilling the subject matter. His works are filled with references to art history and he finds inspiration in the objects and the people who surround him in his daily life. He often works around a theme, and the “Untitled” from 2014 has become one of his most beloved subject matters: The flower and the pot. Jonas Wood shares studio with his wife Shio Kusaka and her ceramic objects have greatly inspired Wood in working both with paintings and prints. They have also exhibited together and make up a remarkably creative artistic duo. This print – the motif - “Untitled” from 2014 was included in the large survey of the artist’s printed work at Gagosian Gallery, Madison Avenue, NY, in May 2018.
