Alex Da Corte (b. 1980 in USA) is currently greatly represented at the 58th edition of the Venice Biennale. In the curated section of Arsenale the viewer is invited to his world through large installations. Working in different expressions such as video, prints, painting and sculpture, Alex Da Corte draws inspiration from everyday life and plays with references to pop culture, consumerism, literature and mythology. He often injects surrealism and takes objects and forms from the original setting, placing them in a new surrounding thus shifting and changing their innate meaning. Alex Da Corte has exhibited widely on the gallery scene, but also had a solo show at the New Museum, New York, and has been included in museum exhibitions at, among others, the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York and at the Louisiana Museum, Denmark.
